FAQs

Who can join?

Any WHS high school student interested in coding and problem-solving. All students are welcome regardless of background

What events do you enter?

We compete in coding contests, academic tests, and team programming challenges.

How often do you meet?

Our team meets twice a week after school normally on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Ms. Whitby's room to practice coding problems and prepare for competitions.

Do I need experience?

No prior experience is needed; beginners are welcome to learn and grow.

Is there a fee?

Participation is free, and we provide all necessary resources.

How do I sign up?

Just contact our team advisor or attend a meeting to get started with Thunderbirds UIL Computer Science. Please see Ms. Whitby or Mr. Chen

Can I win money?

Of course not.! However, the skills you learn and demonstrate can enable significant scholarships and grants--as well as admission into competitive computer science programs

What is the highest salary former WHS UIL students have gotten their first year out of college?

Approximately $180K
